Les États d'Asie possédant les taux d'alphabétisation les plus élevés sont l'Ouzbékistan, le Kazakhstan, le Tadjikistan, l'Azerbaïdjan et l'Arménie. Les pays du continent asiatique ayant les taux d'alphabétisation les plus faibles sont l'Afghanistan, le Pakistan, le Timor oriental, le Yémen et le Népal.
